Abstract |
Wind erosion is common in the dryland regions. Impacts are largely assessed based on their on-site effect on soils or off-site effects like dust pollution. The role of wind erosion in global biogeochemical cycles, especially its change over time, has received comparatively little attention, despite the large amount of nutrients which are transferred by wind erosion. This project aims at a simple assessment of the role of wind erosion on a global geochemical cycles, including the transfer of nutrients and Carbon, both within and between terrestrial ecosystems, but also from land to sea. A particular emphasis is given to changes of wind erosion effects as a consequence of land cover, land use and climate change during the Holocene. |
