The skeleton of a lead coffin burial from Augusta Raurica BL/Switzerland is described and anthropologically evaluated. It is the skeleton of a woman who died between the ages of about 44 and 50. The woman reached a height of about 157 cm. The condition of her teeth was very bad. Although only a few teeth were affected by caries, they were so severe that the jawbone was also badly affected. In addition to periodontitis, massive abscesses formed in the tooth root area of ​​the right upper molars. It is possible that the woman died from the prolonged tooth and jaw inflammation. Porosities and deposits on the skull and in places of the postcranial skeleton are indications of past illnesses in the form of a slight vitamin deficiency or inflammatory diseases. However, their expression is rather weak. Slight enamel hypoplasia indicates stressful situations experienced in childhood. Degenerative phenomena could be observed in the vertebral area. However, their expression is rather weak and does not indicate any specific physical activity. The signs of degeneration are probably more related to the older age at death than to the heavy physical strain during one's lifetime. In addition to vertebral degeneration, asymmetries in the area of ​​the shoulder girdle also indicate a slight scoliosis. In view of the advanced age at death, the general state of health was good, except for the dental findings.
