Abstract

Oxytocin has been proposed as a neuroendocrine mechanism that may mediate the relationship between dog ownership and positive health outcomes and be linked to human-dog interactions (Powell et al., 2018) and is thought to be a mechanism of interspecies bonding (Nagasawa et al., 2015). This study aims to test the possible role of oxytocin (OT) as a mechanism of animal-assisted intervention, we aim to investigate if intranasally ad- ministered oxytocin influences trust towards the present therapist and the involved animal.
