Political conflicts have arisen in German-speaking societies regarding the interpretation of a pandemic situation and the proper handling of the pandemic. The empirical research project "Political Sociology of the Corona Protests" shows that despite the motivational, content-related and ideological heterogeneity of this protest movement, there is a central unifying common feature: The participants and sympathisers of the protests directed against the Corona measures "communalise" themselves through a strong self-image as critics. This article characterises the "Corona critics" and proposes interpretations for a sociological classification of this movement.
