Abstract The present paper gives an short overview on the history of Elephantine and Aswan in the extreme south of Egypt. A second part is devoted to some micro historical events as they represent themselves in the Demotic texts from the island. Both are intended as an introduction for students and scholars of Theology and Ancient History.
