Abstract This paper aims at clarifyiog two neglected aspects of anapboric encapsulation: the alleged existence. of pronominal anaphoric encapsulators and non-anaphoric encapsulators. We will assume a reference-based defìnition of the phenomenoo under con~ideration grounded on the notion of hypostasis, as the starting point of our reasoD.LDg. The first research question will be answered through the analysis of general nouns with encapsulating funcrioo as opposed to pronouns, whereas the second research question willlead us to the examination of copular clauses with an anaphoric neuter pronoun as subject and of grammaticalized appositions.
