The aims this collaborative network is to build bioethics teaching and research capacities particularly in Moldova and also in Romania with the support of its partner in Switzerland. This collaboration will provide much needed opportunity for the three partners to network and exchange bioethics knowledge between Western and Eastern European countries. Each partner brings certain areas of expertise in bioethics that the other will benefit from. In order to ensure that we reach our goal, we have designed five specific objectives that will be achieved through fulfillment of six activities.

The five objectives are:

1)      Networking opportunities for young scholars;

2)      Modernization and coordination of the basic curricula of theoretical and applied bioethics training;

3)      Improvement of teaching and training in Bioethics through cutting edge teaching skills and teaching methodologies;

4)      Transferring current research methodology in empirical bioethics and introducing  new approaches by training the next generation of young scholars; and

5)      Enhance the research infrastructure of our partners from Eastern Europe.

Significance of this collaborative network

The proposed collaborative network will be instrumental in developing individual and institutional capacities for the three partners. First, it will improve research capacities of young talented scientists currently working in the fields of Bioethics. Second, the didactic personnel of the three institutions will gain from the teaching activities which are aimed at improving their methods and skills in teaching Bioethics. Third, this partnership will significantly help modernize the research infrastructure of the Eastern European partners (in Moldova and Romania). Forth, the partnership will contribute towards establishing networks of young researchers and academic personnel. We envision this network created as part of this SNF Scopes funding scheme, will continue to grow stronger through future collaborative works not only at the national level but also at the EU level.
