Abstract This paper examines whether the contact farmer selection in the T & V System is biased towards wealthier farmers, and its implications for development. 1984 survey data on 130 contact and follow farmers from 10 villages in Sri Lanka's Gampaha District are used in cross-tabulations and discriminant analyses.
