Abstract |
The remains from a workmen's settlement in the Valley of the Kings were published. They included pottery and more than 800 hieratic, hieroglyphic and picture ostraca. Combining the finds with the find spot and the archittecture (small huts) as well as with some food remains the living conditions of the workmen around 1150 BC could be reconstructed. The analysis of the picture ostraca showed, that they were not scetches for the decoration of the nearby royal tombs but objects made during the education of draftsmen. For some of the texts especially for letters the same was the case. With the documentary texts some insights in the work progress could be reconstructed. The religous objects (stelae) and texts gave an idea of the religous thoughts of that time. |
