Abstract

Life emerges from inanimate matter thanks to a complex network of tightly cross-regulated enzymatic reaction cascades. To mimick this, we have emplemented the cross-regulation of an artificial imine reductase which is turned on in the presence of a protease, generating a tripeptide that acts as a cross-regulator for the imine reductase.
