Abstract |
Sedimentary rocks are one the most accesible pieces of evidence available to us to determine the actual runoff on Mars. Due to the differences in gravity, numerical models use don earth to describe flow hydraulics cannot or only within limits be applied for Martian runoff and sedimentation. The Mars Sedimentation Experiments Project, conducted jointly with the University of Aarhus, Denmark, aims at simulating sedimentation proceses on Mars and determining the limitations of models used in terrestrial environments. Highlight of the project in 2012 was a first feasibility test of sedimentation simulation equipment during a low-gravity flight. |
