In its second year, the Work Package 1 project 'Hierarchical Assembly of Multifunctional Interfaces' has followed two directions, the second initiated after ideas arising from discussions at the Fellows' Retreat in 2015. The first doctoral project has continued with the theme of sensitizers incorporating light-harvesting antennae inspired by Nature, and detailed photophysics in collaboration with the Wenger group (Work Package 1) have led to a recently submitted manuscript (see below). The second project has utilized a 'surfaces-as-ligands' strategy to produce nanoparticulate surfaces templated for the organized assembly of vesicles (in collaboration with the Palivan group (Work Package 3)).
