Third-party funded project
Project title Changes in Systolic and Diastolic blood pressure in hypertensive HIV infected patients starting anti-hypertensive drugs.

Organisation / Research unit Departement Klinische Forschung / Klinische Epidemiologie (Bucher H)
Project start 01.07.2011
Probable end 31.03.2012
Status Completed
Abstract Hypertension is the leading risk factor for cardiovascular diseases. An increasing number of HIV-infected patients in the Swiss HIV Cohort Study (SHCS) are treated with antihypertensive agents. We are interested in assessing how well HIV-infected patients are treated for hypertension and to what extent blood pressure reduction can be achieved. We will therefore model changes in blood pressure over time in hypertensive patients starting anti-hypertensive drugs in the SHCS after April 2000. We will evaluate the impact of several variables, including exposure to cART drug classes, on blood pressure change. "
