Abstract Atherosclerosis is common and myocardial infarction, stroke and peripheral arterial occlusive disease are its devastating complications. Accurate risk prediction is urgently needed. We applied molecular tests to improve early clinical identification of patients threatened by a future course of complicated active atherosclerosis.
