Abstract |
A collection of event photographs, the Swedish newspaper articles reporting on the Games will be analysed using critical/feminist discourse analysis. Three key research questions will guide the research: a) What social discourses do the newspaper cartoons, photographs and textual descriptions reflect?; b) What social discourses do the photographs from the private collection reflect and how do they compare with the contents of the newspaper articles?; and c) How did the World Women’s Games influence the assimilation of the 'Fédération Sportive Féminine Internationale’ into the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), or its rejection, respectively. |
