Abstract

This project is focused on the conservation the European pond turtle (Emys orbicularis) in Switzerland. Genetic analyses will be conducted in order to determine the occurrence of the species in Switzerland, if native individuals have survived and the proportion of introduced individuals (as well as their origin) in different ponds. It is a preliminary step before a possible reintroduction of the species in our country.
