Abstract Incorporation of a biotinylated Hoveyda-Grubbs catalyst within (strept) avidin affords artificial metalloenzymes for the ring-closing metathesis of N-tosyl diallylamine in aqueous solution. Optimization of the performance can be achieved either by chemical or genetic means.
